Agustín Alcalde is a partner at EDN Abogados and as such is in charge of the labour and immigration law area of the firm.
For more than 10 years, Agustín is specialized in labour law, advising important national and multinational companies in diverse areas, such as logistics, mining, food, construction, agriculture, retail, energy, finance, advertising, restaurants, universities, schools, foundations, among others.
He has practiced his professional practice in corporate labour consulting (Day-To-Day Advice) of preventive nature, for an important number of companies, focusing on responding to short and long term contingencies, developing strategic solutions, responding to the daily work of the companies and acting as an internal element for the Human Resources Management of its clients. He also specializes in designing the labour-corporate structure of various multinational companies that have established themselves in Chile, so that they comply with Chilean legislation. Likewise, he participates in Due Diligence processes, both internal to the clients and as part of the purchase processes.
His practice includes legal advice, specializing in the defence of companies in labour litigation of various types and complexity and in the representation of these companies before the Labour Department, SEREMI Health, the Department of Immigration and other administrative entities, in matters of claims, actions, administrative fines and other administrative processes related to labour law.
Additionally, Agustín provides advice on immigration law, having a wide experience in advising national and multinational companies on the management of visas and other permits related to their expatriate executives and employees.
Before joining EDN Abogados, while he was studying abroad for his master’s degree, he was a labour advisor at Alster Legal. Prior to that, he worked as an Associate Attorney in the labour and immigration area of Guerrero Olivos.
He is a lawyer from the Universidad Finis Terrae, where he graduated with two votes of distinction and passed his degree and thesis exam with highest honours. He also holds an LL.M. (Master of Laws) in Law, focused on Labour Law, from the University of Melbourne, Australia, together with several post-graduate studies, in Chile and abroad.
Finally, he has been Assistant Professor of Introduction to Law at Universidad Finis Terrae and Assistant Professor of History of Law at Universidad Nacional Andrés Bello.
